Oil Painting Classes
Learn the techniques required to master painting in OilsIn this oil painting class with Tim, you’ll begin to explore the rich possibilities of working with oils through step-by-step guidance. As you progress in your artistic journey, you’ll learn how mastering different techniques and understanding various materials can expand your creative potential. With Tim’s support, you’ll gain confidence in using oil paints, allowing you to bring your ideas to life on canvas and express your unique artistic vision.
What you’ll learn:
- Glazing – Applying thin, transparent layers of paint to build up color and depth.
- Alla Prima – Also known as "wet-on-wet," where you complete the painting in one session without letting layers dry.
- Scumbling – Scrubbing a thin layer of opaque or semi-opaque paint over another layer for a textured effect.
- Impasto – Applying thick layers of paint to create texture and depth, often leaving visible brushstrokes.
- Grisaille – Painting entirely in shades of gray or another neutral color to establish values before adding color layers.
- Dry Brushing – Using a brush with very little paint to create rough, textured effects.
