In this bonus installment in our Blender 3D Basics series, Ethan Davis introduces you to simulations.

As he demonstrates some of Blender’s built-in simulations, including Cloth, Soft Body, Fluid and Dynamic Paint, Ethan shows you how to use subdivisions and geometry to enhance their visual impact.

By the end of this video, you’ll understand how to achieve some truly awesome effects with Blender simulations.

Ethan also touches on Particles and the Baking process, two terms you may wish to look up in our 3D CGI Terminology A-Z.

  1. I followed the dynamic paint and canvas part but for some reason it wouldnt work to create those ripples. The sphere would just go through the plane when i moved it.
