Editing and Storing Pictures

Taking photos is one thing, but storing and editing them is something that you really have to think about too.

In the final class of this Compact Camera course, Karl reviews some of the best photos taken throughout the course and some simple software that you can use to easily edit your photographs.

He also explains why it’s so important that you organise and backup your special pictures and how you can process them for print or other forms of reproduction.

In this photography class we cover the following:

  • How to use your compact camera
  • Storing and organising photos and videos
  • External storage devices
  • Backing up and saving images
  • Photo editing software
  • Exporting photographs for print

If you have any questions about this photography class please post in the comments section below.

  1. Hi Karl,
It seems the software you mentioned “Picasa” is not available anymore. Is there any other software that you recommend for beginners?

    1. Hi, Picassa was replaced by Google Photos but we don’t think it is as good. You could try it but also Lightroom they may still do a lite free version.

  2. New here. But I’m really interested in your opinion on what works best for you in the software you choose for post processing. Their are many new plug-ins, software, like nik, topaz, on1, luminar, capture one, lightroom, etc.

    Currently… What’s your take?

Thanks. I’ve already learned so much from you in the last 5 years watching you.

    1. Hi Michael, I do everything with Lightroom and Photoshop and I also use a software called Phocus which is the camera software for Hasselblad (it is very similar to Capture One). To be honest you should be able to do everything you want with Light Room and Photoshop.

  3. Hi Karl
Just really got a lot out this section with you & Kelly it’s so amazing what new features & adjustment can be made with compact cameras.
And you both sure put them through their paces, the ocean sunset & motorway
tail lights trails…..really stood out for me, but every part was really excellent.
Thanks to you both for a very interesting & informative series.
