Hi Karl, I’m having a love/hate relationship with her bra strap. The black creates a nice contrast against her skin, and I feel it really highlights the glass cracks. However, it sometimes distracts from her face. I noticed in your final picture on your website that you chose one where the strap isn’t really visible. If you had included the strap, would you have pulled it more off her shoulder and onto her arm to make it more prominent in the image, or would that interfere with the leading line of her arm and the shadow gradation? Also, if she had worn a more neutral color or white, would you have asked her to change or remove it? I had to take a couple of months off from the site and really missed it. I’m glad to be back.
Hi Eric, thanks for coming back! To be honest on this one I didn’t really think about it, I just chose the image from the session that I preferred and that was the one that ended up on my website. In situations where you are shooting live on air, with a time limit, an audience watching and asking questions – as you can imagine it’s quite different from shooting on your own in the studio where you might take more time and make different observations! So it’s difficult to say what I would have done differently if the circumstances were different.
Karl, if you get Hasselblad to fix the accidental dial issue across the board of X camera software, I am surely ordering a sculpture of you made of gold. There are many annoying software issues for the X1/2D, but that is surely one of the most annoying ones.
This is another stellar show. It’s one of the best. Karl, if I could just make a request, it would be to post the finished images on Instagram or Facebook and also alert the membership that you’ve posted new work. I would love to see this image once it’s post processed. From what I saw, the picture was going to be fabulous. The reflection underneath just appeared dazzling. The reflection underneath the model was sublime in that it really just captured a mood and feeling.
Hi Doug, thanks and much appreciated. In fact I’m filming the post production class tomorrow so shouldn’t be long until I post the final image on my socials and the Post Production full walkthrough should be on the platform within a month. Cheers Karl.
