LEE Filters Factory Tour (Part 2)
In this video again we are visiting LEE Filters to discover where they actually manufacture and colorize polyester film to ultimately create the some of the kit that I use in my professional studio. (Gels and Diffusion Material) Learn the process involved and how they achieve a higher standard of color control over competing products – see the machines, meet the people and see as Karl gets the opportunity to have a go at making some kit himself.

Thank you, Karl, I am using this for portraiture, knocking down the ambient light. Will go with glass! 🙂
Lee makes ND filters on glass and Polyester for camera lenses. Are the Polyester (they are cheaper) filters ok to use or should we always use the glass filters for color and sharpness?! THX!
Hi Curtis, I use the polyester grad filters, there might be a slight colour cast on these but as they are usually used on coloured sunsets etc then that isn’t really a worry to me. For standard ND only over the whole shot then I use the glass NDs and they are very neutral and the IRND filters are 100% neutral for ultra critical work, such as in the studio for certain products, textiles etc. Cheers Karl.
