Hey Karl,
I have a bottle shoot coming up and was wondering if you have any classes for a bottle hero shot. I couldn’t find it on the courses.
Hi, check all of our product photography section please, we have lots on bottles and liquids: https://visualeducation.com/product-photography-courses/
Hello Karl,
I have a query and I just hit that issue just today. I have a broncolor Mobil A2R with 2 flash heads mobilite 2.
When I select my shutter speed to 1/200 I have started seeing a black strip, I understand this is the shutter closing faster before the flash. But it does not happen at 1/160.
This has only started today. But when I interchange the lights and interchange the sockets behind the mobile A2R, then it works well at 1/200 again.
What could be a possible issue? I am using a sync cable to trigger it. What could be possibly going wrong here.
The flash power is also at the lowest level on the Mobil A2R.
Please advise.
Hi, well it’s obviously a sync issue so you will be safer with 1/160th. Sometimes syncing can also be the problem of delay from the trigger, a cable or wireless trigger so you will have to test to see which works best. But if you are getting a black stripe then clearly the shutter is moving across the frame while the flash is firing.
Very very useful session. Quite a number of learnings, Thanks KArls for your efforts. One question … regarding camera … Do you think having only a 24 MP full frame will be a disadvantage in closing the big commercial clients and i should have a 45 MP camera instead for that extra possibility of using on big billboards etc
Hi, I used to shoot on a Hasselblad H1 which was a 22mp camera and also a Canon 5D 22mp camera – I’ve shot campaign work for big companies on both those cameras no problem. There is also software such as Topaz Gigapixel that can enlarge images using Ai to very high quality. Your main focus should be on lens quality and the skill of your lighting and photography.
