  1. Karl, I want to thank you for your encouraging comments on my photo. It means a lot to me to hear positive feedback from you. I’m motivated to work on my craft more. Thank you so much!

  2. hello visual education team, I was trying to watch the Portraiture Critique 2026 video but there’s nothing no video, just the comments, any help would be appreciated

  3. Thank you for the feedback! I definitely should have thought about the symmetry in my photo when capturing it. I knew the fabric on the left didn’t sit right with me, but I wasn’t quite sure what to do about it!

Thank you, Karl, for your spot-on critique. Extremely helpful and eye-opening. I appreciate your time and expertise!

  5. Thanks Karl for that huge effort in not only commenting so many portraits but also suggesting improvements! I learned a lot from that extensive critique session. Also the suggestion to work a lot with curve layers was very valuable.
    All the best, Elmar

  6. The B&W option was a consideration for my portrait.

Fantastic show, with a lot of really great images submitted. Many of them, I thought, I would love to be able to do that.

Dear Karl, thank you — much appreciated. Powder is back in the jacket pocket 😉 Crop is fixed. And please thank your team as well — great as always.

  8. Great critique Sir! I really needed that. I saw you posing for some portraits and loved that lighting, but I clearly did not get my lighting right. So, this critique was really necessary and very helpful for me.

  9. Thank you very much for your feedback – and for all the effort you put into improving so many individual photos!

  10. I am fascinated with low-key and high-key photography. This was my first time making it happen. The photos has very basically editing as I am still learning. Please do critique as I would like to improve myself.

” Strength, reliability, that was tempered by tolerance, and kindness.
A rare pearl in a world of hyper-masculinity.
    my father…”
He let me grow my hair long to my shoulders when we (I was 9 )were stationed at Petawawa army base in Ontario ,Canada , and gave me my first camera …
    Cheers, John van Veen .

  12. I always try to convey the personality of the subject, although this is naturally highly personal and subjective. In this picture I felt that looking away from the camera captured something quite different from looking straight at it.
