Racing Porsche CGI (Part 3)

Texturing in Substance Painter – Want realistic dirt, wear, and surface detail? Next, you’ll learn how to texture your model using Substance Painter.

In this chapter of our CG Car Image Creation course, you’ll bring your model into Substance Painter and begin building detailed textures. You’ll set your document resolution and bake mesh maps so the software understands the shape of your model.

You’ll learn how baked maps are used to place dirt and grunge into crevices, control roughness and surface variation, and add realistic detail. The instructor also explains how to export the correct texture maps for use in Blender.

By the end of this class, you’ll have a complete set of high-quality textures ready to apply to your model.

In this class:

  • Importing models into Substance Painter

  • Setting document resolution

  • Baking mesh maps

  • Understanding how bakes are used

  • Adding dirt and grunge with masks
