Watercolour Techniques with Acrylic

Let’s water it down.
Most people think of acrylic paint as some bright gooey coloured stuff similar in consistency to tooth paste! And guess what they’d be correct but there’s so much more to acrylic and how it can be used.

One of these techniques is to water the acrylic paint down, that means to mix it with more water than you’d expect to create a very thin and almost transparent layer of colour that allows other colours or base materials to shine through. This ‘watercolour’ technique provides a particular style of paintings that many people fall in love with.
