Wet on Dry Technique

Wet on dry.
When you first think of learning to paint you might think, as many do, that it’s all about brushing down lots of gooey paint and then leaving it to set and hey presto! However the process is often more nuanced and we can be more creative when we know how to layer paints through layers of colour.

One of the ways this is achieved is to apply thinner layers of wet paint on-top of our acrylic paint that has already dried. This is easy to do because acrylics are a fast drying paint and using the ‘under-layers’ of the paint that has dried allows us to create ‘glazes’ and new colour on top of colour, opening a world of creative possibilities.
