Handbags and Purses

Textured leather, intricate zip detail, and endless colours… Whether you’re shooting close up details or more general flat lays, this week’s challenge presents plenty of opportunities to get creative.

As you’ll see in our handbag live show, colour is one of the ways you can get creative. Incorporating juxtaposing colours is an effective technique if you want to create eye-catching results. But it’s not the only way. Matching hues are another option if you’re looking for a more classic, elegant style, for example.

Lighting is another way to get creative. Handbags can be tricky subjects to light, but professional results can be achieved with quite simplistic lighting (in the handbag live show I only used bare bulb lights in a small studio space). Experiment with your lighting to control the hardness or softness of the light or see what mood and emotion you can create.

Below are a couple of recommended classes that will be useful for this week’s challenge. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

      Hi Meet,

Weekly Challenge submissions are not subject to critique I’m afraid, but you can get Karl’s feedback on your work by participating in our Working to a Brief assignments or submitting to our Members’ Image Critiques.

Here’s the current Working to a Brief assignment:

And here are some forthcoming critique shows. When submissions for these open, we’ll put out the call via email and social media, so look out for those!

      Best wishes,
      Ben H (KTE Team)

    1. I don’t think I’ve seen a course specifically on this bag but you have other courses which can help you. Some of them are listed in the description above.
