Photography Challenge - Week 48

25 November - 1 December

It's easy to feel stuck with your photography, so photography challenges are a great way to kickstart your creativity. We’ve got 52 weeks of photography challenges to help inspire you,  and you can view the full list of challenges here.

This week's challenge is...

Musical Instruments

Guitars, pianos, drums, trumpets — this week’s challenge is all about musical instruments.

From close-up detail shots to creative still life arrangements, there’s a number of directions you could go with this challenge.

The key thing to keep in mind is the shape and form of the object. Before you start shooting, take the time to really look at the subject — consider its textures, its curves, lines, and angles.

Next, think about the mood you want to create and what you want to do with the image. Are you looking for a descriptive product shot or something more emotional and abstract?

Or, if photographing products really isn’t your thing, you could consider a portrait of a musician with their instrument (though keep in mind the focus of the theme for this week is instruments, not people). Tom Oldham's live talk show replay might provide some inspiration for this idea.

Below are a few classes that may provide some inspiration and guidance.
