Photography Challenge - Week 14
2 April - 8 April
Are you looking for some photography ideas to test your skills and get your creativity flowing? We’ve got 52 weeks of photography challenges to help inspire you. Each topic is designed to be achievable whether you’re shooting at home or in a studio, use natural light or studio lights, have years of experience or just a few months. We started posting weekly challenges more than a year ago and they’ve been so popular we thought we’d continue to run them if you want to try something new or catch up on any that you missed. You can view the full list of challenges here.
This week's challenge is...
Upload your image to our members Facebook group using the hashtag #KTEWeeklyChallenge or tag us on Instagram, where we’ll share some of our favourites on our stories each week.
How to get creative
For this week’s topic, we’re challenging you to get creative with motion blur. You could photograph people, products, landscapes or even food — the only thing we ask is that there is a sense of motion in the image.
Key to this will be an understanding of shutter speed, and, if you’re using studio lights, the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and flash. Once you understand these, you’ll be able to more confidently focus on the creative side of the shoot. Planning and pre-visualisation, as usual, will help you think about and conceptualise your shot. You’ll be able to think about and determine your composition, lighting, background and props, and how you can bring everything together.
If you’re looking for ideas, the below may offer some inspiration. They also cover some important concepts that you’ll find useful for this particular challenge.
- Please rename your image file using your first and last name (e.g. Karl Taylor.jpg).
- Only images uploaded using the form below will appear in the gallery.
- Please upload no more than one image.
- Uploaded images should be 3000px on the longest side.
- Images can be posted in our members' Facebook group using #KTEWeeklyChallenge, but will not appear in the gallery unless also uploaded via the form.
I noticed that with the weekly challenges, the newsletter and the website always refer to a form, with the form closed for submission and a reference to the members home page for submissions, but if I’m not mistaken, weekly challenge submissions are only have handled via the Facebook page. Is that correct?
If so, is it possible to update the newsletter and the webpages with the most recent instructions for submission?
Thanks, and keep up the good work! Always inspiring material 😊
Thanks for your question! You’re still very welcome to post your Weekly Challenge images in the Facebook group as usual. However, if you’d like your image to appear on our website in the gallery for that week, please upload your image using the form on the current challenge’s page. The forms remain open for as long as each challenge is live. You don’t need to go via My Homepage specifically if you don’t want to, but we do update the Weekly Challenge panel of that page each week to reflect the current challenge. Hope that helps! Any more questions, please let us know. 🙂
When do we get the Review I want to know what I should pay more attention to.
